Career Details

Nerida joined Merit Solutions in 2019 following a sixteen year career in Human Resources (HR). Nerida has also worked as a consultant providing Work Health and Safety (WHS) and HR advice to a range of small business clients across Australia. Nerida’s previous roles included HR Manager for the North Queensland Primary Health Network and General Manager People, Communications and Compliance with North Queensland Airports, where she was responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of HR, Corporate Communications and Compliance functions for the Cairns and Mackay Airports. During Nerida’s time with North Queensland Airports, she led enterprise bargaining negotiations and key elements of the airport’s transition from a government owned corporation to private enterprise.

Recruitment and Selection

Nerida has a broad range of recruitment experience across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. She has developed attraction strategies, chaired and participated in interviews, undertaken quality assurance to ensure compliance with policy and legislation and advised managers and executive staff on complex issues relating to recruitment and selection. Nerida also has practical experience across multiple government departments in short-listing, scribing at interviews, preparing comprehensive selection reports for panel review and delegate approval as well as obtaining referee reports.

People Policy and Practices

As a senior HR professional, Nerida has provided strategic and operational advice to senior management and line managers on issues such as performance management, payroll, HR & WHS policy, remuneration and succession planning. Nerida has played a key role in multiple enterprise bargaining negotiations, development of risk management frameworks and management of staff surveys.
Through her management roles and recent consulting experience Nerida has broad experience developing and reviewing company, HR and WHS policies and procedures for a wide range of clients, ensuring that HR and operational policies fit localised environments.

Organisational Design

Nerida has considerable experience in the review and development of role descriptions and utilising job evaluation systems to determine remuneration levels. She has managed significant organisational restructuring and advised on change strategies.
