Career Details
Narelle joined Merit Solutions in 2022 after 28 years working in HR roles multiple industries. She started her career focusing on recruitment having led the recruitment function for an IT consultancy, a major contractor, a global airline and most recently building recruitment capability in a global manufacturing organisation.
Narelle has delivered HR strategic leadership having supported multiple transformation projects resulting in new operating models being implemented including new organisation structures, role design and development and team effectiveness work. She specialises in execution of the People components of a strategy by supporting organisations to pick the right people for roles to meet the strategy. She also has extensive Industrial Relations experience and project management ability.
Recruitment and Selection, Shortlisting, Scribing
Narelle has led the recruitment function in several organisations, introducing processes and capability for the recruitment team and leaders. She has delivered large scale recruitment programs involving building the strategy and executing this strategy with success. She has also implemented three e-recruitment systems to streamline processes.
She has experience working across the full spectrum of the recruitment lifecycle including the strategy development, attraction, assessment including assessment centres, interview panels, psychometric assessments, work testing / case studies, background checks including references, selection reporting writing and candidate feedback. Narelle excels at merit based recruitment and ensuring the data supports the final decision.
HR Policies and Employee Relations
Narelle has also overseen the HR function for major corporations and responsibility for standardisation HR policies and practices. This included developing policy including writing business cases for a change in policy and implementation from Parental Leave to COVID-19 support programs as well as the Industrial Relations Framework supporting Enterprise Agreement mandates for negotiation and investigations and grievance review. Narelle has also had significant success in managing complex industrial relations matters resulting in positive outcomes for the company at the Fair Work Commission.
Other Achievements
Narelle is an accredited coach and enjoys incorporating this skill while supporting recruitment processes. She also provides pro bono HR support to the National Parks Association of Queensland.
