Career Details:

Helen commenced a career in Personnel and Human Resource Management in 1978 when she 
joined the Department of Social Security.   From 1985, she held managerial positions 
oversighting a range of HR functions including pay and conditions, recruitment and selection and 
HR project roles. Helen has worked in a variety of senior HR roles such as Personnel Manager, 
Change Manager and EEO Co-ordinator.  Helen began work with Merit Solutions in 1997 and is 
now a Principal Consultant. 

Specialised Selection Skills:

Helen has worked extensively as an independent panel member and selection consultant on 
selection exercises in the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council.  She has managed 
recruitment and selection functions, including advising on policy in these areas.  Helen also has 
experience in large selection exercises and has been a Delegate with responsibility for making 
selection decisions and reviewing practices.  Helen has a strong background in 
equity and is well versed in public sector recruitment and selection legislation and practice.

Other Achievements:

Helen has skills in implementing change in large organisations and played a key role in the 
restructuring of HR Services on a regional basis.  She has also designed and delivered a number 
of training sessions.  Helen was a key player in the development and delivery of inter-
departmental development programs assisting staff in human resource management and 
corporate services areas to make the transition to management roles.
